We left early on the morning of our third day in London to be among the first at The Tower, where we witnessed the Opening Ceremony.
Because we were there early, we were able to see the Crown Jewels without crowds and we had the White Tower almost to ourselves.
After spending the morning touring The Tower, we headed to the East End for a food tour - yum!
We started with dessert - the best apple crumble we've ever tasted - at Spitalfields Market.
And after sampling fish and chips and three types of curry, we still found room for a bagel.
And a cheese plate with some lovely members of our tour group.
Stuffed, we ventured on our own to the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. It was huge and had a large number of fun rides.
And beautifully decorated bars.
