Day 6: Historic Windsor Castle

mctownse

On our sixth day, we took a train to Windsor. As we left, we spotted the Sky Pool, which is suspended 115 feet above the ground. No thank you.

After a fairly short journey, we arrived in the quaint town of Windsor. The castle dominates the hill above the river.

We were not allowed to take any photos inside, but it was astonishingly grand. Queen Mary's Dolls House exhibit was open, and it was worth waiting in line to view. The small, intricate detail was amazing.

After touring the castle and St. George's Chapel, we went back to town for lunch. We selected a restaurant based solely on the name - The Giggling Squid. It turned out to be a great choice!

After lunch, we walked across the bridge to Eton and enjoyed a lovely walk along the river. It was a beautiful day!

We made sure to take care of the swans before going back to London.

Once back in London, we stopped by Hatchards bookstore (supposedly the oldest bookstore in the United Kingdom), where we used our best willpower and bought only three books.

We ended the day with a delicious dinner with our tour group, and we took one last picture with our buddies - another couple traveling with their daughters. I'm so glad we got to meet them!
